the slaves'resistances: the marroning
The condition of black slaves in the American South during the first half of the nineteenth century was one of degradation and constant humiliation. Life for many was simply not worth living and escape to freedom was the only viable alternative. The slaves fled the plantations because thet refused living and working conditions. Moreover, they wished build families, they hated punishments and they wished to be paid for their work. That' why some slaves fled. All categories were influenced by the marroning. Marrons lived in the moutains.
