Slaves' living conditions

                         Slaves' life were sad and very hard. They didin't have rigths because they were considareted like things. The master was forbidden to torture slaves but it was necessary for the slaves to obey their masters. Slaves were prohibited to own anything. They didin't have the right to escape or run away; if they didn't respect that they were severely punished. In addition, they were to be baptised and educated as catholics. However, they were not allowed to marry with other slaves without the master's authorization. Only a minimun of protection was granted to the old or the sick slaves.
