A life in hell!

The slaves had very difficult living conditions. Their tiny boxes didn't withstand bad weather and they were often prone to the diseases. The  slaves children worked very young. The slaves were to work from the sunrise to the sunset; the night, in their village, they sang and danced.

They didn't eat much and were to often supplement the meals, to give by the master, by wild fruits or vegetables: they ate especially beans and dried cod.

It wasn't allowed for the slaves to escaped and if they did it, they were punished and whipped. The commander armed with his whip supervised the work and took care of the maintenance or the acceleration of the rhytm of work.

To sum up: Slaves didn't have a life of dream!
